Our Story
A Studio Built Around You
Waxing that actually feels good

How It Started
Honey & Bloom started with a simple frustration. After years working in Bay Area waxing studios, Maya kept noticing the same thing: clients — especially first-timers — walking through the door visibly tense, bracing for something painful and embarrassing. The experience was efficient, professional, and completely impersonal. That gap between what waxing could feel like and what most studios actually delivered became an obsession she couldn't shake.
When she moved to Omaha to be closer to family in 2019, Maya saw an opening. She wanted to build a studio where first-timers weren't just tolerated — they were the point. Everything at Honey & Bloom was designed around that nervous first-timer: the warm lighting, the unhurried pace, the honey-based hard wax formula that's gentler on skin than conventional wax, and a commitment to talking every client through each step before doing anything. No surprises, no rushing, no judgment.
Six years later, the studio has grown entirely through word of mouth. The clients who came in nervous and left smiling told their friends. Those friends told theirs. That's still how it works today — and it's still the thing Maya is most proud of. Every appointment is designed around the same question: what would make this person feel completely taken care of? The answer tends to be pretty simple: slow down, communicate, and use great products.

Maya Chen
Lead Esthetician & Studio Owner
I started my esthetics career in California, where I trained at one of the Bay Area's most respected cosmetology schools and spent several years working in high-end studios serving clients with all kinds of skin types and sensitivities. What I kept noticing, though, was how many people — especially first-timers — walked in visibly anxious and rushed through the door like they were bracing for the worst. That gap between what waxing actually feels like and what people feared it would feel like became my obsession.
When I moved to Omaha to be closer to family, I saw an opportunity to build something different. I opened Honey & Bloom because I wanted a studio where first-timers could feel genuinely welcome — not just tolerated. Every detail, from the music to the lighting to the pace of each appointment, is designed with the nervous first-timer in mind. Our honey-based hard wax formula is gentler on skin, and I talk every client through each step so nothing comes as a surprise.
After six years in the industry, I still get a little thrill when a first-timer walks out smiling and says 'that was so much better than I expected.' That moment is what this studio is built around. Whether you're here for a quick eyebrow cleanup or your very first Brazilian, I'll take care of you like you're the only client I have that day — because in that room, you are.

What Our Clients Say
I almost canceled three times before finally going through with it. Maya made me feel so at ease from the moment I walked in — she explained every single step before she did it, and honestly the whole thing was over before I even had time to panic. I booked my next appointment before I even left the parking lot.
I was terrified of the pain, but it was genuinely so much better than I expected. The honey wax she uses feels completely different from what I'd tried before — way less pulling on the skin. I wish I hadn't waited until my 30s to finally try this.
First-time eyebrow wax and I was nervous about ending up with something that didn't look like me. Maya talked through the shape before touching anything and kept checking in with me. They look absolutely perfect — better than anything I've done at home for years.
